Textmate is supposed to be able to notice changed files whenever focus is returned to it.

Two interesting cases:

1) Mount ExpanDrive directory from server I can shell into
2) Use Textmate to open folder of files from ExpanDrive mount
3) View a file in Textmate
4) Shell into server, change file
5) Change focus back to Textmate - Textmate does not ever notice change

Second case:
1) Mount ExpanDrive directory from server I can shell into
2) Use Textmate to open folder of files from ExpanDrive mount
3) View a file in Textmate
4) Shell into server, change file
5) Eject ExpanDrive directory
6) Re-mount ExpanDrive directory
7) Change focus back to Textmate - Textmate *does* notice change.

Any way I can get the results of the second case without having to refresh the ExpanDrive mount?

This is partially a limitation of sftp. The sftp protocol was not designed to be a mountable file system, and so there's no way to make the file server notify clients (like ExpanDrive) when files are changed remotely.

That said, there are things we are working on to improve the cache behavior in ExpanDrive, which should make the program more responsive to files that get changed on the server.
